How healthy is your framed artwork?

Framing that cares for your art

Since 1992 ASA has focused on using only the highest quality materials that are proven to aid in the preservation of your valued pieces and state-of-the-art techniques which are used by framing technicians in museums and galleries the world over.
      What do we frame?

Artworks on paper - drawings, watercolours and prints such as etchings, engravings, linocuts, screenprints, woodblocks, Japanese scrolls

Photographs – any size and medium

Old or new documents and maps including documents on animal skins such as vellums

Works on canvas – oil, acrylics, mixed media or modern printing techniques as well as stretching and framing

Textiles such as embroideries and tapestries

Whatever you have – we can advise on the best way in which it should be framed

We also offer inspections and upgrades to existing frames:

Replacement of ordinary glass with UV filtering and lightweight shatter-proof acrylic sheet (Perspex)

Replacement of low-grade backing materials such as cardboard or MDF sheeting with waterproof inert polypropylene backing

Assessment and upgrades to the way in which the artwork is attached in an existing frame and possible re-mounting using preservation techniques

Upgrade to existing matboards to Museum standard matboard made from cotton.

Reproduction of original matboard decorations such as golden lines and watercolour washlines using preservation grade materials

ASA works in close collaboration with conservation specialists for artworks on paper or canvas - should your artwork be in need of conservation treatment, we will be able to advise you of the best person to do this work for you, while being able to recommend the appropriate framing treatment.

Our framing techniques are fully reversible and do not negatively affect your artwork.
If necessary, in years to come, your artwork can be removed from the frame. This is especially important for art investments.
