his Diploma of Visual Arts in 1995 in Germany and moved to
Australia in 1997.
As part of his studies he worked at the New England Regional

Julie Sommerfeldt, GCF |

|
Julie started at ASA in April 2005.
She is also trained in the field of bookbinding and restoration, having undertaken an apprenticeship
through TAFE with French born and trained Master Bookbinder, Sabine Piérard.
She lived for a year in London, working in various binderies gaining a broad spectrum of knowledge and industry experience.
In 2005, she had the privilege to work in book conservation back in the UK in the Codrington Library at All Souls College,
Oxford University.
Julie greatly enjoys the creativity and precision inherent in both bookbinding/restoration and conservation
framing, and the cross flow of techniques and ideology between the two related industries. |

June gained a solid understanding of conservation practices whilst working at the
Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Her position there involved the mounting
of artwork for exhibition and archival storage.
Having spent 14 years living in Canada, owning and operating
a framing studio, June has taught for the Professional Picture
Framers Association (PPFA), USA and is still actively teaching
here in Australia at The Framing School. |
